The Bible
It is perhaps not politically correct to say, but one of the most famous members of the revenants is Jesus Christ. It is said in the bible that he rises from the dead and appears to his Apostles in corporeal form. Even the Apostle Thomas is able to put his hands on the wounds Jesus bears on his hands and at his side John 20: 24 – 29.
Zechariah gives another example of the dead rising from the grave:
“And this shall be the plague wherewith the LORD will smite all the people that
have fought against Jerusalem; Their flesh shall consume away while they stand
upon their feet, and their eyes shall consume away in their holes, and their tongue
shall consume away in their mouth” (Zechariah 14:12)
This quote seems fairly graphic in its description of what will happen. It also seems like a vivid
description of a revenant although scholars like to debate the point (Zombie Research Society).
It seems incomplete that a quote is not entered concerning the Book of Revelation. However, this part of the Bible does not make any reference to the dead rising from the grave. Instead, it makes reference to resurrecting the dead. Unlike rising from the grave, a resurrection restores the body to its living state. Therefore, a resurrected body is not an undead, but is living once again.
